1. Are you more attractive, less attractive or equally attractive as your spouse or partner? I think we are fairly equal, which is sad, because I put far more work into it than he has or ever will.

2. What job did you not get that you still wish you had been offered? There have been a couple that I still mull over. Both were for culinary magazines.

3. Has anything wonderful happened to this month? Yes, a nice bonus, and one marketing fgig or is doing even better than anticipated.

4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you? That all the little crap I sweat over is worthless, and I'm a lot tougher than I often perceive myself to be.

5. Have you ever visited a psychic? Yes, and she predicted four different things in my life with frightening clarity.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful? The husband has many friends who are more successful than I could ever hope to be. He's pretty successful too, but I often forget that, for some reason. I wish I was guilty by association. I suppose I can settle for being the proverbial "rock" behind the man.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.? Coins, but by accident. I feep finding really cool old coins in the most random of places, like beneath my house in CA when we were working on it, and on the ground near a Coinstar machine. And, most recently, a dime from the turn of the century that someone handed me as change after I bought a cup of coffee. It's so pretty. I've never seen one like it.

8. What websites do you visit every day? None as frequently as here, except news sites. Sometimes TMZ as a guilty pleasure. I can't believe I am admitting that on here. I'm not all that loyal when it comes to websites, unfortunately.

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive? People who are rude for no reason whatsoever. Narcissists, too. They have an ugly glow that can be spotted from miles away.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science? I am. The whole thing. It's not going in the ground, and if it can be of use to someone else, so be it. I've been really clear about that w/ the husband and as apart of my will. And I've got the donor thing on my driver's id.

~Bonus Question~
When was the last time you vomited? A couple of weeks ago, when my sister brought us a stomache flu from L.A.

Another fine batch, jbe. You should compile all your Qs and put a book together. I know it's been done before, but these are fun. But I digress.

1. Are you more attractive, less attractive or equally attractive as your spouse or partner?
I'd say we're about equal (though she's a lot prettier). We both look 10-15 years younger than our age, I've got killer blue eyes and my wife has dazzling green eyes, she's got the Italian look with a touch of Irish, I've got the Irish with a touch of Danish.

2. What job did you not get that you still wish you had been offered?
Early on in my career I worked at Time Inc and tried for a job on the employee newsletter. Lost out to a slacker (he truly was) whose father was on the Board of Directors. Go figure. The position could have opened a lot of doors.

3. Has anything wonderful happened to you this month?
Other than the usual blessings of life in America, found out our company is giving a bonus after all and got a positive ruling in a court case that will help my granddaughters.

4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you?
That if you stick it out, stay true to yourself, and don't give up, things will get better. And that I have some excellent family and friends.

5. Have you ever visited a psychic?
Just out of college, a friend and I used to go to psychics near our Midtown office for kicks during lunch. Most were bogus of course, but one old Eastern European woman in an 8th Avenue storefront, who looked straight out of Central Casting, knew and predicted things that there was no humanly possible way she could have known, and decades later, they were still coming true.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful?
My college roommate is now a nationally know financial adviser with a batch of bestselling books, a syndicated radio show, a huge mansion, millions in the bank, etc.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.?
You are talking to a bigtime pack rat. Everything from books and magazines to floaty pens, View Master items, Yellow Submarine items, trolley car photos, cigar lighters, and more. Slowly but surely winnowing it down.

8. What websites do you visit every day?
There are other websites? (Snirk!) Other than this, Yahoo News, Ebay, aol.

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive?
I think inner ugliness comes out; that whole Dorian Gray thing.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science?
Will donate whatever organs they need, but burn the rest. I never want to be "Charlie on the Slab" in some med class.

~Bonus Question~
When was the last time you vomited?
It may have been when Bush got back into office, but other than that, don't recall.

1. Are you more attractive, less attractive or equally attractive as your spouse or partner?
Physically, I am more attractive, and he admits as much. But in terms of personality, he is more attractive. He's got a natural charm that people respond to immediately, whereas it often takes strangers a while to warm up to me. I think I come across as a bit aloof, although I don't mean to.

2. What job did you not get that you still wish you had been offered?
Mostly, it's been acting jobs that I wish I had gotten. I was in the running for a History Channel program, as well as for a Prius commercial. I drive a Prius, so I really wanted to be in the commercial. Alas, I was not chosen. I saw the finished Prius commercial, and I was obviously not in the demographic the advertisers wished to reach.

3. Has anything wonderful happened to this month?
I finished another chapter of my novel. That was pretty wonderful.

4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you?
They've taught me not to take good health for granted, even at a young age. The hard times have also taught me, for once and for all, that life is not fair. No matter how good of a person you are, bad things can happen. You've just got to do your best to deal with them. I've also learned that so-called "life-changing events" don't necessarily change your life forever. They happen, and then life goes on.

5. Have you ever visited a psychic?
No, but I have been tempted.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful?
Monetarily speaking, probably my friend who works for Yahoo. Other than that, we're all on pretty equal footing. I do envy those who like their jobs, though.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.?
No, no collectibles.

8. What websites do you visit every day?
LATimes.com, NYTimes.com, MediaBistro (obviously), LA Land blog, Craigslist.

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive?
Being a smoker. And being grossly overweight. Or, being grossly underweight. I don't want to see someone's bones and veins. Tara Reid, eat something! A person's attitude can also manifest itself as physical unattractiveness.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science?
I don't know about my whole body, but doctors are free to use whatever viable organs are left.

~Bonus Question~
When was the last time you vomited?
About a week ago. I coughed so hard that I threw up a little bit. Gross.

2. A job at this fantastic literary agency last April. This job at a book packager that I was thisclose to getting a year and a half ago. Another job as an EA at a major publishing house, two years ago. There are lots more, but those three really stand out in my mind. Oops, I read # 9 as "attractive" not unattractive.

Well, I guess, disproportion works for that. But also, if they are a cruel or thoughtless person, I find things about them that are unattractive...like they have big ears, or a mole by their ear, or something like that.

1. Are you more attractive, less attractive or equally attractive as your spouse or partner?

3. Has anything wonderful happened to this month?
Nothing particularly exciting, really.

4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you?
There have been times ni my life so awful that I truly just wanted to die. But coming out of and living through a few different trying situations has made me tougher as a person and made me realize I was stronger than I thoguht I was. And those experiences also has made me an incredibly empathetic person.

5. Have you ever visited a psychic?
No....but I wish there was a TRUE pet psychic who could talk to one of my dogs for me. THere's so much anxiety in her pretty little head.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful?
I think they're all successful in their own ways- whether in their professional or personal lives, they have all accomplished something, or lived something, that they truly are passionate about. I don't define success by money, so it really is subjective to say who is the most successful.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.?
I collect debt.

8. What websites do you visit every day?
Here of course! ANd NYtimes, WaPo, CNN, my neighborhood Web site, and weather.com

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive?
I think there are very few things that you can blanketly say make someone unattractive. One person's "flaw" may be another's defining quality- such as Streisand and her nose. Some people may find such noses unattractive, but with her, it's beautiful.

I think personality qualities can translate into physical unattatractiveness- scowling, angry people, or those with a a stick-up-the-butt look on their faces, and those with their noses in the air.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science?
Yeah, sure- why do I need it when I'm dead? I'd rather not rot in a grave somewhere and spend thousands on a useless casket.

2. What job did you not get that you still wish you had been offered? Not that I wanted the gig, but I really needed it. A pr gig for a tv show that would have lasted enough time for me to collect unemployment when it was over.

3. Has anything wonderful happened to this month?
Yes. Little things can mean a lot. I have been looking for decent help caring for my ill grandmother. The woman I thought would be perfect never had the hours we needed. Out of the blue last night, she called me and she can work on Fridays indefinitely. I'm relieved and happy for all.
4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you?

5. Have you ever visited a psychic? Many times. Too many to count. Most have been very accurate and helpful to me.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful? I guess that depends on how one defines success. I have a friend in L.A. who has run a successful catering concern for ten years. She is as happy in her personal life as her professional life. She has faced many challenges in both and does so with apparent ease. It's not that she is making tons of money, but she keeps going, is able to offer jobs to people who really need them and she really likes what she does.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.? No. Used to collect old fashion magazines. I stopped and sold most of them on e-Bay.

8. What websites do you visit every day? I try not to spend too much time on the internet. It keeps me from other pressing things. Will viist MB most Thursdays thanks to Janet!

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive? Slovenly appearance. I don't like when people are dishelved. If it looks as if they don't bathe frequently that is a major turn-off.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science?
No. Perhaps my corneas, but that is it.
~Bonus Question~
When was the last time you vomited?
Oh, gosh. The last major drinking festival I participated in over ten years ago. I threw up all over the backseat of the designated driver's car. Disgusting. I don't drink much at all anymore.

the cancer week
1. Are you more attractive, less attractive or equally attractive as your spouse or partner?
i'd say we are equal. but he looks about 10 years younger than he is (ie, he looks my age), and although i look young for my age too, i don't look 10 years younger.

2. What job did you not get that you still wish you had been offered?
a while back, i lost out on a job helping to run a film festival. it was a several-months-long gig at a time (just post 9-11) when i didn't have enough else going on work-wise; and could have been interesting. but hey.

3. Has anything wonderful happened to this month?
ok. first, the most recent unwonderful. i was diagnosed with (very) early-stage breast cancer on tuesday. i am young; i do not smoke and never have; i am a yoga-doing vegetarian. though there is ovarian cancer in my family, there is hardly any breast cancer. go f-ing figure, right?

so i am scared and i am angry and i am confused, etc. etc. but. friends and other loved ones have been, on the whole, unbelievably wonderful, as have some strangers. i've had an incredible amount of love poured onto me in the last 2 days. (my dad hasn't been so amazing; he's taking things out on me a bit, as--i'm remembering now--he did when my mom had cancer. he's going to have to come around, or he's going to have to stay away from me.) for the very most part, every single interaction i have had when telling people in my life what's up has been totally wonderful.

sorry if i am freaking you out, laying this on people who do not know me. but i figure, we tell the truth here.

4. What have the hardest times in your life taught you?
ah. that i am strong and that things do get better (and worse again, and better again!) in the future. but also, very importantly, that support and connection are like air and water for me.

5. Have you ever visited a psychic?
i let one pull me off the street once. i asked if i should trust the guy i was seeing at the time, and she said yes; but he did not turn out to be trustworthy. my gut feeling was right, her psychic-ness not so much.

6. Which of your friends is the most successful?
my friend sarah, who wrote and starred in a one-woman show that made it to bway. she won a tony.

7. Do you collect anything such as baseball cards, figurines, antiques, etc.?
not really. but i have too many shoes!

8. What websites do you visit every day?
this often; salon.com often.

9. What do you think makes a person physically unattractive?
looks of arrogance or aggression do not appeal.

10. Would you ever consider donating your body to science?
actually i'm considering it right now. if there are studies they want me to join, i'm joining. but after i'm dead (after living to be 98 or so!), i'm getting cremated and that's pretty much it.

~Bonus Question~
When was the last time you vomited?
been a while. but there may well be some vomit in my forseeable future, sucks to say.
