While I was surprised to see the story about the magazine on MediaBistro's main page, I wasn't surprised; they've been in trouble for years. The biggest surprise is that they're still printing. On the other hand, these kinds of stories aren't all that unique. Does anyone remember Private Air magazine? They went on for years and years not paying writers, printers or editors and filing at least one (or more) bankruptcies before they finally got outed among freelancers. They pulled every trick in the book but it still took three years or so before word got out to the point that people refused to work with them. |
