| DixieDunbar | Posted 1/24/2008 6:31:18 PM | show profile Would appreciate any advice as I'm new at this... I sent a travel article to a number of newspapers in the summer and got no response. I think my timing was off. I was very pleased--and surprised--to hear back from an editor of a respectable paper 4 months later--in mid-December. The editor said he was interested in possibly using it eventually and he told to me get in touch in the new year. I've emailed him twice in January and have heard nothing back. Should I call or sit tight? Keep emailing? Or, should I start re-sending the article to other pubs for consideration? Thanks for your input! |

That said, I would wait another week into February, then call him and say that he said to check back and you are doing so. If he is not ready to consider the piece, ask him when you should follow up, or suggest that you will follow up at a certain time, perhaps a quarter from now. Then keep shopping the article around and contact this editor if it hasn't sold by then. |
