| keltoi | Posted 1/26/2008 1:46:10 AM | show profile There's a UK-based computer security company called PREVX that will do a free scan to find out if you have any malware on your computer. (If it finds any, you have to join for a fee to fix it.) It's better than a lot of standard security software because it doesn't look for known malware, it searches for programs that behave like malware, finding stuff that may not yet be known. The site is www.prevx.com. DON'T go to the scam site www.previx.com (note the added i)--it's bogus, and possibly bad. |
| writesonwater | Posted 1/26/2008 3:47:14 AM | show profile Have you thought about whether this guy is worthy of being your boyfriend? Assuming you're not paranoid, I would have to say there are big trust and character issues involved. Be careful, girl. |
| chucho | Posted 1/26/2008 5:15:04 AM | show profile Isn't spying, like, a federal crime? So if you can find evidence then not only do you get to break up with him but you can press criminal charges against him, too. Did he at any time have access to your computer? If so I'd check to see if he installed any key tracking software that records all of your keyboard strokes. If this guy has regular access to your computer, then the threat to your privacy is increased, because he could be farming data off of it. But remotely? Unless this guy is a computer hack geek IT security expert, I would think that anything he would be trying remotely would at some point lead to some kind of notification -- a pop up window asking your permission for something -- especially on an Mac. Commercial remote computing software requires both systems be set up for two way sharing. |
