You know MSNBC should cut there loses and get Shep Smith from FNC. He is truly fair and balanced. Let Hackerman go somewhere else.

And my local, very conservative newspaper runs Bill O'Reilly's column. Maybe FNC should fire him.

I am not a fan of Keith Olbermann per se, but when has he called himself an objective journalist?

KEITH IS A GIANT AMONG TOADS.

Why for a solid year Frank do you remain fixated on Olbermann. You will never live up to or be this man.

How wonderful. Unfortunately, this does not answer my question. I asked (and you don't need Google for this) when has he ever called himself an "objective journalist," as you say.

He is a journalist; that's his profession. Whether he's any good or not is a subjective question and will always depend on who you ask. I'm not aware that Keith is representing himself as unbiased. The promos for his show certainly don't present any such picture: "You're entitled to HIS opinion!"

Just because the opposing side isn't often presented doesn't mean that 'Countdown' should go off the air. There's room for more programs that just those where guests and hosts scream at one another.

No, Frank. I want you to point out a specific instance where, as you say, Keith Olbermann calls himself an "objective journalist."

Look, I'm not attacking you. I respect your views about Olbermann. I actually agree with some of it. He's a pathetic little demagogue, just like O'Reilly. All I'm looking for a simple answer. I could easily find out on my own, but that would take me away from this wonderful list.

What's the big deal about Bill O'Reilly calling himself a commentator, after all? I can't stand the guy, but he has a right to call himself a commentator if he wants to. He could justifiably call himself a journalist, too. Unless I'm very much mistaken, he has a journalism degree.

Anyone working in the field of journalism has a right to call himself a journalist. It isn't on the same level as "doctor"; there are journalists working in small towns and at indie newspapers making anywhere from nothing to barely more than minimum wage. Also, journalists are just as entitled as anyone else to have an opinion and even to host a radio or tv show where they give their opinions. The existence of 'Countdown With Keith Olbermann" breaks no law and violates no ethic germane to the field of journalism. If you have evidence to the contrary, please present it. Otherwise, please shut up!

I think the crux of the issue among the anti-Keith is this: Olbermann portrays himself as a journalist, like his purported hero Edward R. Murrow (full discretion: Murrow is among my heroes, too). Unfortunately, his brand of journalism is based heavily on a single worldview. It is not classic, Murrow-esque journalism. It is, ironically, journalism modelled after Bill O'Reilly.

Then you don't know much about Edward R. Murrow. He brought down conservative hero Joe McCarthy, using journalism! And opinion. His show dripped with opinion. Everything he reported was filtered through his opinions. Right-wingers hated him.

Look it up!

Thanks for the (ahem) history lesson, junior.

Murrow touch a chord with the people much like Olbermann.
All Olbermann has done is point out the facts about the Bush administration - the lies, deciet and untold death they've spread around the planet. He knows Bush is a fraud and traitor. Let him speak his mind. Hopefully one day these crooks will all be behind bars. I know if I were Bush I'd never get a good night sleep thinking about the untold death caused in Iraq and the thousands of young dead Americans Cheney and him lied into a dubious war.

I heard serveral soldiers speak today at a rally and let's be certain they feel betrayed and believe everyone connected to this war should be put on trial and procsecuted to the fullest.

Junior? What brought that on?

If you want to dispute something I've said then let's have it. I know what I'm talking about. If you have evidence that I'm wrong about something I'd be very interested in seeing it.

Good post, dog. I wish you'd stick to such prose and stay out of that gutter. Then maybe the gutter would eventually go away.

I agree with most of what you said, but I take a slight exception to this:

"All Olbermann has done is point out the facts about the Bush administration"

That's not entirely accurate. You should continue: "as filtered through his opinion", or something like that. 'Countdown' IS an opinion show. Keith does a lot more than just point out facts. Nothing sinister, I don't think, but more than just pointing out facts.

Oh, and I couldn't agree with you more about Bush, by the way.

OH noes, KO calls hissseff a journulist! Let's agrue about this 'cause it's very importunt. I likes the teevee news. But we shud get rid of KO and just have BillO 'cuz BillO is objective and KO is'unt. I am very smart, 'cause the men on the teevee tells me soes.

Keith has always been a commentator. Why should MSNBC dump him and get a so-called "fair and balanced" journalist to put on at 8:00PM? What, they are not allowed to have a commentator on the air at 8:00PM? Fox does, Headline News does. You conservatives have one standard for yourself, and a different standard for everybody else!
