an editor i have worked with before contacted me yesterday asking if i had any ideas about a news item. i sent her three possible articles and she wrote back that they sounded interesting, she would think about them over night and get back to me in the morning. i later came up with a fourth idea that i emailed her late last night.

now it is almost 2 pm and i haven't heard a peep from her, even though she said she'd contact me in the morning and she has always been very prompt in the past. do i contact her at any point this afternoon to nudge her? or do i just let it go and wait to hear from her? this article is about a very current event that will be less meaningful as more time passes, so i was hoping to already have the go ahead to get this going today.

perhaps you could just phone or email her and say you're stepping out for a few hours and wanted to touch base.
