| jazzreport | Posted 1/30/2008 6:55:14 PM | show profile CNN Gives Unemployed Woman 'a Pass' for Buying a Flat-Screen It?s apparently okay to buy unnecessary and expensive electronics at a discount ? even if you?ve lost your job and money is ?tight.? After all, the Super Bowl is Sunday. CNN?s January 30 ?American Morning? mentioned retailers were cutting prices to get customers to purchase more, but no one during the broadcast had a problem with one unemployed woman buying one of those fancy televisions. ?Veronica McNeil has two kids,? said Cho. ?She recently lost her job. Her husband?s an ironworker and the family is feeling the pinch.? McNeil revealed that a good discount would be her weakness. ?If I?m here to buy baby stuff and I see a TV at a good sale price, I?ll grab it,? McNeil said. Cho pointed toward ?rising gas and home heating oil prices and Americans losing their homes? for money being ?tight.? Personal responsibility and wise financial decisions were lost on Cho. ?So everybody agrees that we?re all feeling the pinch, but the Super Bowl gets a pass,? said Cho. ?Please excuse the pun.? http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeff-poor/2008/01/30/cnn-gives-unemployed-woman-pass-buying-flat-screen-television |
| soulman | Posted 1/30/2008 9:30:44 PM | show profile CNN IS THE GOLD STANDARD So many are jealous of Cnn and their integrity in news reporting. People try to find little nitpicky things to say about the network. Cnn was not trying to cover up for Saddam Hussein. That would be unthinkable. Look at the top journalists they have working for them at Cnn. Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, John Roberts, Kiran Chetry, Soledad O'Brien and Campbell Brown, just a few of the names at Cnn who would never consider joining a network that had ethics questions about their coverage. These are stand up people, and I think they know they are working for a network with a reputation that is impeccable. |
| soulman | Posted 1/30/2008 9:54:28 PM | show profile KIRAN SAID GOLD STANDARD She left FOX, walked a couple of blocks down the street to Cnn and declared her allegiance to The Gold Standard in journalism, Cnn. Now, do you really think someone as intelligent and ethical as Kiran would declare Cnn the Gold Standard if there was really any proof of anti Americanism, manufacturing of stories or covering up of brutality in Iraq? She's a stand up gal, and she's got good company there at Cnn. Look at Sanjay Gupta. He's a surgeon and is always helping people. He's way smarter and nicer than any of those fake doctors over at FOX. Who's the old fart that keeps stumbling over his words? Think it might be time for him to retire since he can't speak plainly anymore. |
| soulman | Posted 1/30/2008 10:24:08 PM | show profile It was time to go, said Chetry I saw some interview somewhere quoting Chetry as saying "it was time to go" when referring to her public and sudden split with FOX. It's just fascinating to me, and hilariously funny for those of us who love to see FOX get rejected by one of their own long-time mainstays. There was Kiran, smiling, yukking it up and acting like the good little FOX employee just days before the words GOLD STANDARD issued forth from those shiny lips of hers. She was a Cnn'er all along and I can only guess she couldn't wait for that contract with them to run out. And guess what? Kiran's hero in news broadcasting is Peter Jennings. He has been respected the world over. Over at FOX, who are the broadcasting heroes of right wing nuts like Napolitano and Kilmeade? Well, I can't think of any right now because luckily, we don't let right wingers get up that high in the business! All the big anchors are libs, and that's the way it should be. Kiran will be one of the biggest someday. Prediction-She will leave Cnn for something bigger someday, like taking Katie Couric's job at CBS or hosting Good Morning American or Today. I love it when someone who appears to be loyal to their boss, especially when that boss is Roger Ailes, jumps to the competing team and tell about how they've desired to work there all along. How embarassing for FOX. |
| soulman | Posted 1/30/2008 11:43:53 PM | show profile FOX is not believable They slime everyone that wants to leave their narrow minded theocracy for other channels that are mainstream, without bias or ideological bent. You didn't hear Jon Klein sliming Paula Zahn when she decided to retire from Cnn now did you? And when Bill Hemmer left Cnn for FOX-what was he thinking, you certainly didn't hear a peep from Cnn executives. So, I'll take Kiran's word any day over what comes out of the mouths of the right wing conspiracy. |
| jazzreport | Posted 1/30/2008 11:46:16 PM | show profile "Paula Zahn when she decided to retire" lol she was forced out. I think i heard someone cut a promo saying she's a "little bit sexy" remember that?? Remember the happy nergo remarks??? Did you miss the reverse oreo?????? CNN is a classy network |
| soulman | Posted 1/30/2008 11:57:27 PM | show profile the links don't prove anything So, you posted some links. They tell one side. Cnn broadcasts the truth, whether it be our soldiers being attacked or reporting about whether or not some of our soldiers may have been brutal to the folks in Vietnam. The truth is not easily swallowed, and so people rebel against it, saying it's a lie. Cnn is brave enough and has the guts to do what isn't always popular. They aren't on the air to promote the USA or to be some kind of cheerleader for this country. They are there to treat the USA just like any other nation. We are just one of many. FOX is very partial to the USA and slants their stories accordingly. That's not news, that's an agenda. Cnn has anchors who were born in all different countries, so they don't look at the USA as glowingly as many who are born here. They have a different perspective and present it according to their understanding of how the USA is viewed by their native countries as well as other foreign lands. Cnn is a worldwide network, while FOX blares the USA Is Always Right trumpet constantly. That's not news reporting. |
| soulman | Posted 1/31/2008 3:20:07 PM | show profile CNN has so many different reporters Cnn must have a huge staff! They are constantly hiring new people and every day I see a face I've never seen before. They have reporters and bureaus in every part of the world. Over at FOX, you see the same old faces over and over and over again. It's almost like they have a total staff of about 10 people! Cnn has it covered! The most diverse news channel ever! |
