I am majoring in business administration to get my associates. I plan to transfer to obtain my bachelors, however, i no longer know what to major in. I have always wanted to work in advertising but i do not know too much about it. I have narrowed my choices to 4 majors: advertising, business admin., communications, or marketing. Please if you have any advice i would greatly appreciate it. I would like to have an internship within my last year of college. I dont know how to get my foot in the door with advertising, please help! Thank You! |
| recovering_jersey_girl | Posted – 1/31/2008 10:33:03 AM | show profile My gut is to point out that advertising is a field *wildly* in flux due to the fragmentation of the traditional media world and a growing skepticism on the part of advertisers about the validity of Nielsen survey numbers. Two pieces of advice for you: Read Ad Age and Ad Week religiously to get a scope of the industry and see if it's something you want to do. Also, consider new media marketing: there's a lot of dynamic ideas and growth going on in that sector...Read MarketingSherpa.com and eMarketer.com.
