Topic: Chicago Style citation question

| robbo | Posted 1/31/2008 4:07:50 PM | show profile I'm proofreading a book using Chicago Style. The author uses endnotes, a bibliography, and in-text parenthetical citations. My question concerns the parenthetical citations. She's not using the author-date system, she's using the title of the work and page number. Example (Title 42). Should there be a comma between the title and the page number? I can't find the answer in the manual and it's driving me crazy! Thanks to anyone who can help! |

I would go with the comma, using the rationale that she's replaced the author/date with the title of the work. According to Chicago 16.10, a comma is used between author/date and the page (Kasper 1999, 10-11), so I think it should be (SF, 25) in this case. Grr. I hate it when people follow a style, but not really! |
