Hi,

I graduated in college last May and am currently in France on a research fellowship but am planning on shortly moving back to New York. I interned at a smallish book publishing firm there a year and a half ago and my boss recently asked me to come back and work as a freelance editorial assistant two to three days a week. She said I need to decide what to charge on an hourly rate, and I don't have any idea. I think they pay entry-level people around $33,000. They were planning on hiring my boss an intern for the job (it's just for several months during high season) but she'd rather have me there and maybe turn it into a full-time job at a later point. I graduated with a very good GPA from a very good university and speak French, which is an asset for them because they're owned by a French company. On the other hand, I only had that one experience in book publishing, and if they were going to hire an intern, I'm afraid they weren't looking to shell out much money.

Any ideas/suggestions on how much to ask for?

Thanks in advance!!
