I should like to ask for leads to publish some cross-disciplinary research. I am a research librarian who has been published mostly in specific niches: Library
Science, disability advocacy and some international
relations issues. I would like to place all or specific chapters of my
dissertation on aspects of group conflict theory, particularly re economist Kenneth Boulding's and criminologist George Vold's work, as the aspects are applied to the English Crown's administration of the Principality of Wales, @ 1284 to 1415.

Thank you.

Great idea, Carolyn. I'd suggest you first look through that library for publications you think might be interested in your subject matter: niche publications? smithsonian? history, crime, economics journals?

If you want someone else to write the articles about your research, targeting publications you've seen similar stuff in and sending them press releases, samples of your work, etc. is one way to go.

If you want to write the articles yourself, unless you're going from one academic publication to another, you will probably need to go from academic lingo to more accessible language -- often shorter words and sentences, for example.

One tool I do recommend for that purpose is the Chicago Manual of Style or the AP Style Guide -- the first for magazines, the second for newspapers, although in many respects they're interchangeable.

Just to get your name out there, websites like searchwarp.com (I think that's it?) may accept and publish your copy, but I don't think they pay.

Good luck!

Good luck with your project, Carolyn. You might want to think about pairing up with a non-fiction writer for a book or an eBook. I have a couple projects like this on the go and it's fun to combine areas of expertise. It means sharing credit and proceeds, but it can be a great way to get the work done.
