Hello,

Does anyone have any tips for pitching The View and/or Regis and Kelly? I think I have two different guests that might be right for them.

Thank you!

Here are some tips. Hope they help:

1. Immediately build a connection with your guest and a seasonal time of year or seasonal news angle (ex. Back to school, Spring, Women's history month).

2. Give the producer 5 strong reasons why they would be good for the show. So many people send Producers guests and expect them to figure out where to put them. This puts you at a tremendous disadvantage.

3. Try to find some tie in with your guests that makes their appearance part of a "greater good" - aka charity. BONUS: Find out if anyone of these shows is actively supporting a charity and help them in their efforts.

4. Be persistent as long as it takes (unless the producer says flat out "No, this will never work on the show"). Sometimes it has taken over a year to finally land a client on of these shows but, the wait was absolutely worth it!

5. I know this defies conventional wisdom but, if you can send a 1-2 sentence pitch, it'll substantially increase your chances of grabbing the attention of the producer who receives 4,000 e-mails a week. As a former CBS producer myself, if I got a page long e-mail, 90% of the time it would be disregarded. No producer has that kind of time on their hands.

Best wishes to you and when you land your guests on the View and Regis and Kelly, please let everyone know so we can watch!

get good tape!!
When I produced at a similar daytime talk show, we ALWAYS asked for tape on non-celebrity guests before any booking. So trot your guests out to the local morning news shows before even trying. Plus, it'll hone your pitch. And if you can't get your guests on the local am newscast, The View is gonna be a longshot.

Also, WATCH the shows you're pitching.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for replying--I don't know how I missed these in February. We did manage to land a couple of NBC affiliate shows, so now I'm pitching to national NBC affiliates. I'll let you know how it goes!

Thank you very, very much!
