| bulletinizer | Posted 2/2/2008 5:27:05 PM | show profile And The Award For Most Boring Threads Go To.... Yes, Frankdog and Crimelobo. They have perfected idiocy. |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/2/2008 5:55:15 PM | show profile Frank, it's bizarrely confusing because a prize that you brought up and that you should be delighted to talk about among your colleagues in the industry seems to cause you anger and defensiveness. that's bizarre. In addition, what you said previously is: " I never said I was a journalist..." Then you replied: WHY is this "extremely, strangely confusing"? I am not a journalist. I never said I was a journalist. I USED to be a journalist- but now now. WHY is that confusing? "I never said I WAS a journalist" -- PAST TENSE. If you were only meaning that you are not currently a journalist, you would have said: "I never said I AM a journalist." Do you see why that's confusing? |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/2/2008 6:03:03 PM | show profile And Frank, just to clarify, it's true you never used the phrase "journalistic pureness." However, you did write that you mentioned your Pulitzer nod: "in the context of assuring the "journalism student" that one need not have an agenda or advocate to be successful in the industry." So were were using your Pulitzer to "prove" that someone who was, well, as purely unbiased and objective a reporter as you are implying that you are/were can scale the highest journalistic peaks. |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/2/2008 6:08:29 PM | show profile And why to you keep demanding that others list their names and resumes for you to tell anything about your Pulitzer nod? You have NEVER BEEN ASKED to share your name and "career history" -- only a bit of info about the work you did that led to you nod, since you said you were nominated for your own work. Were you working alone? As a member of a team? Did you spearhead the project? Was it something you worked on for a long time? |
| SuburbanCorrespondent | Posted 2/2/2008 6:22:42 PM | show profile I'm a moron, huh? You win, Lobo. You've dragged me down into your horrible, horrible world. Back in my high school days, I saw some petty, immature crap on message boards. But your work takes the cake - and if my calculations are correct, you are probably twice my age. That is just sad. You are an incredibly small person, and obviously this message board provides you with the only real fulfillment in your life. It's pretty suspicious that you, the man who's all over this message board like flies on s*it, who must check it every five minutes to get in his smug little remarks, took so long to get involved in this conversation about your credentials. Once you finally did, you addressed the situation in typical fashion - by turning it around into something completely different, much like you did with our previous "discussion". I, for one, would LOVE to hear all about your Pulitzer nomination and your experiences in the newsroom. Especially as a student of journalism (even though that somehow makes me LESS of a journalist in your eyes). And yes, you brought up that experience as a way to justify your criticisms of my philosophy on journalism. Why else would you bring it up? After you were done tearing me apart, someone asked what made you such an authority. You responded with your dubious resume. People of this message board: How much longer are you going to let this guy lord over you? He's obviously a childish bully, whose only credentials are his abilities to incite and antagonize. Are there moderators out there? I wonder what they think of him. He's turned this message board into what should be a place to discuss journalism into his own personal ego-feeding playground, where every discussion becomes another endless and idiotic O'Reilly vs. Olbermann battle. And that. is why. FrankLobo is a jerk. So... about that Pulitzer nomination? |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 2/2/2008 7:17:42 PM | show profile Sunurban - Frank and Olby have enjoyed a free ride here since they day they arrived a year ago. It's been an ongoing battle. This place wasn't always like this. Once upon a time we all got along and had civil discussions then these lowl ives arrived and crapped on everyone. Behind them from deep in the bowels of the sewer comes jimbo and others like him. If you look back over the past year -it's been one subject Keith Olbermann and hatred for MSNBC. You've stumped them for the moment. Mr. McFrank and the Poulitzer lie has slowed his march to total destruction! |
| jazzreport | Posted 2/2/2008 7:35:39 PM | show profile really crimedog???? " Frank and Olby have enjoyed a free ride here since they day they arrived a year ago. It's been an ongoing battle. If you look back over the past year -it's been one subject Keith Olbermann and hatred for MSNBC. You've stumped them for the moment. Mr. McFrank and the Poulitzer lie has slowed his march to total destruction! Did you forget all those hate filled post about BOR and Fox News?? Seems like when you stop posting , everyone gets along. So please stop. |
| Dead Air | Posted 2/2/2008 10:13:46 PM | show profile Frank, let me clarify a few points... You pulled out the Pulitzer business more than twice. I'm happy for you, but the way that you do it smacks of a condescending attitude, which is a bit of a turn off. You're implication is always "Hey, look at me. I've got a nomination; ergo, I am smarter and more qualified to discuss all things media related. All you other people who don't agree with me are lib-ril loons and evil BOOOOOOSH haters." (also lame) You are correct in saying that you never declared journalism pureness. I never said you did, I am implying that it is your intention. In your mind you are Yoda. Here is my opinion of you. You are an intelligent guy prone to saying some outlandish bullshit that you actually believe. a) Joe McCarthy is a true American patriot. b) Aljazerra is a terrorist organization that aids and abets our enemies. c) there is a vast left-wing conspiracy in every news organization with the exception of FOX. That said, you've obviously cut your journalistic chops somewhere. Don't even tell me where. Just tell me what you did. |
| chucho | Posted 2/3/2008 1:45:18 PM | show profile By the way, my roommate when I lived abroad worked as a New York Times editorial assistant. He worked up to occasionally getting a byline, but mainly worked behind the scenes for the correspondents who eventually won the Pulitzer. (For the sake of maintaining my anonymity, I'm not going to mention which prize and what year.) The corros won the prize, but technically speaking everyone in the office was honored and attended the award ceremony. But my roommate has never been audacious enough to brag to people about having won a Pulitzer because he's honest enough not to embellish the experience. After all, he's a professional journalist that respects the profession instead crapping on it with utter elitist contempt while lauding the merits of am opinion-driven news corporation that is helping China keep its citizens in the dark. Huzzah! |
| jazzreport | Posted 2/3/2008 2:23:44 PM | show profile Aww yes the NYTimes. The home of Jayson Blair and the Hezbollah Photo Fraud... |
| jazzreport | Posted 2/3/2008 5:27:56 PM | show profile "Before the Internet you'd likely me at a Klan rally." --crimedog |
| jazzreport | Posted 2/3/2008 5:37:50 PM | show profile Olby - only an guy with zero intelligence contiues to soil at will. have you ever read the NY Times. You can't even put a paragraph together as compelling as a classified ad.--crimedog Looks like you can't put a paragraph together either. |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 2/3/2008 6:09:19 PM | show profile I'm right Olby! You can't even compose a classified ad! |
| SuburbanCorrespondent | Posted 2/3/2008 7:58:28 PM | show profile I go away for the whole weekend, and nothing from Frank waiting for me upon my return? I expected. To read. Some of his. Brilliant retorts. I guess I'm his worst nightmare - an opponent he can't defeat by calling a liberal or a Bush hater. |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/3/2008 9:46:28 PM | show profile Frank, this whole thread was devoted to discussion YOUR Pulitzer Prize nod. You have glossed right over a number of questions directed at you on this thread -- if you expect SC to respond to you, don't you feel you should respond to the multiple people who've asked you questions about a subject -- your Pulitzer nom -- that you initiated and is of great interest to the journalist/media professionals at whom this website is directed? |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/3/2008 9:51:13 PM | show profile But why should the SC (or anyone else) acknowledge your questions when you don't do the same? |
| noname1234 | Posted 2/3/2008 9:59:36 PM | show profile Once again, Frank, you haven't been asked to give your name or employer. A simple couple sentences describing the nature of the work that you did that earned commendation from the Pulitzer committee would suffice -- plus I think it would be helpful info for journalism students and your peers in journalism who frequent these boards! |
| Dead Air | Posted 2/3/2008 11:50:49 PM | show profile Frank, why pick on SC? He is a young kid who has enthusiasm about his future prospects and has an interest in hearing from people who actually still work in the business. Are you completely out of the business now? Have you actually ever worked on the TV side? I've said this before, you remind me of the cranky old man who yells at the neighborhood kids to get of his lawn. I can't quite figure out why you are so bitter. If it is C-Doggy getting under your skin, don't respond...I would council him the say way. I would also say the same to Olby or whoever he is this month. Maybe, we could actually have a real conversation then. I will say this though...If you don't want people questioning your past, then don't pull out the Pulitzer business. Some of us are little older, a little wiser, and lot more job savvy than you imagine us to be. BTW, way to go Giants! |
| Iron Eagle | Posted 2/4/2008 1:01:25 AM | show profile Yes, the Giants did it! Now we can turn our attention to full contact curling. McFrank gets a rise out of insuting all that near his path. That's been his game since arriving on the troll train a year back. One thing we can say in his behalf - the guy is a professional cut and paste man. Loved to have him wallpaper my garage |
