Hi,

I pitched a story to an editor. She said to refine my pitch and send it back. She also explained some specifics regarding how the stories should be written.

Is it okay if I ask her to send over some samples? I have one issue of the magazine but I want to get a better feel of the style etc.

Thanks.

I suggest getting back issues either online or at a library.

If that doesn't work / if you're not up to it I suppose you could always ask her to send something she thought was exemplary.

I'd avoid asking the editor for samples if at all possible.

Sounds like you're on your way to selling your piece though; congratuations.

Also try E-bay for back issues. I bought 10 issues (2007) from one pub I couldn't find back issues for at the library. Cost was $10 including shipping, much cheaper than buying back issues from the publication ($7 a pop). Good luck!
