| Quatermain | Posted 2/9/2008 11:24:29 AM | show profile I just had a thoroughly unpleasant experience with a group called "GetInterviews," "training" to write resumes. I thought it would be a lucrative part-time gig, instead, after two days of "training" with a lot of sarcastic nitpicking, I told'em to bone off. I'm guessing this is how they get free writing talent. Anyone else work with these people? |
| NYCWriter321 | Posted 2/10/2008 7:42:29 PM | show profile Tough training but worth it I've actually had a great experience with them. You should stick it out through the training. Good luck! |
| workinwriter | Posted 2/11/2008 12:50:47 PM | show profile I've been working with them for a few months, and have had a pretty good experience. the beginning was a bit frustrating, and I don't always get all of the info I need, but everyone I've worked with has been helpful. It's definitely gotten better over time |
| aka_rpsbabydoll | Posted 3/6/2008 2:43:24 PM | show profile | email poster About to start Hi, I've been contacted by getinterviews.com about writing for them. Could the two of you who have and do work for them email me. I would like to know more about writing for them and how it's worked out for your financially. I'm considering this against a job outside my home which will require a lot of hours for about the same pay (I think) aka_rpsbabydoll@yahoo.com |
| danseibi | Posted 5/28/2008 8:13:56 PM | show profile | email poster I've been writing for them for a few months now and it's turning out pretty well, actually. The pay is decent, I set my own hours, and after enough practice I can finish your work for the day in a pretty short period of time. Yes, there is a lot of sarcastic nitpicking in the training, and depending on whom you're dealing with, it doesn't stop. But really you only have to deal with a few brief e-mails a day, and the freedom and pay scale more than make up for it. After a while you develop a pretty thick skin, which is fairly necessary in writing anyway regardless of what you're actually writing. Underneath the snark there's actually some good guidance in there, most of the time. Cloud, silver lining, yadda yadda, you get the idea. No job is perfect, and if there are times when I have to bite my tongue and go kick something (the leg of the couch, the wall, the cat...) well...that'll happen on every job eventually. |
| danseibi | Posted 5/28/2008 8:14:53 PM | show profile | email poster Edit to the above. D'oh. ...er...I can finish MY work for the day. This is why I'm a writer and not an editor. |
