for Glencoe/McGraw-Hill , trying to contact for freelance work.

I think I heard that they just laid off like 200 people in the higher ed division ... maybe not the best time.

I get several notices a week from McGraw-Hill about jobs there. Most of them are for positions that would not be appropriate for me. It's a poor use of automated technology - it would be so much better if they would have a human look at my resume and keep me in mind when something that might fit comes up. As is, it causes me to have an unfavorable view of a company that is supposedly technologically advanced.

Their job application site isn't great, nor are most of their non client-facing applications. But it's a decent company, and I bet there's some work at Glencoe-- it's a different market from higher ed. Most McGraw-Hill email addresses are firstname_lastname@mcgraw.hill.com. Hope this is slightly helpful.

StillLearning - I was told that most of the positions that were vacated were Term of Project, so no real big deal layoffs. The number was to appease investors.
