Topic: Best Magazines for Freelancers?

Hi all,

I'm starting out, after a 4 year career in media relations, and am wondering, what are the best consumer magazines for freelancers to pitch? Are there any that are known for being especially receptive to freelance content?

I have contacts at TimeOut New York, New York Magazine, and Out Magazine, but I will (of course) have to broaden my scope and want to do so strategically. I'd rather not fool with magazines that have little or no freelance content, so please steer me in the right direction.

Writers Digest does a list of the best magazines for freelancers every year, and one of the criteria is how much they buy.
