You know you have proof of media bias when news programs create political winners out of 1% voter results. Take the Virginia primaries today as one of many examples of CNN's biased coverage of the 2008 primaries:

With only 1% of results, Wolf Blitzer goes on camera and announces that "CNN is projecting Obama as the winner" of Virginia's Democratic primary.

Then he points to the Republican party graphic and the same 1% suddenly becomes: "Huckabee is beating McCain -- but keep in mind that this is only 1% of results and we don't know where these votes are coming from."

CNN is in need of a hard kick up its azz.

oh dear - is there someone who doesn't know what exit polling is? Trust me, they were polling all day and knew what the result was going to be long before 7 PM, but refrained from reporting it.

In the bad ol' days, they would call the race when exit polls showed an overwhelming lead by a candidate regardless of the time of day - this was thought to influence the results of more than one election as voters on the west coast who hadn't voted yet didn't bother since... well, the election was over, since the media was already reporting who won.

Now it's accepted practice not to reveal the results of the exit polls until the polls have closed, to prevent swaying turnout.
