I shouldn't be the only one filling this thing out. Are they serious about including your parents' incomes? I could understand if I still lived with them or they supported me. There's no way they are going to give me their financial information, even growing up I never knew how much they made.

How are other people dealing with this part?

Oh, and no snarky anti-J-School commentary please.

Are you an international student? As far as I can tell, you don't have to fill out the info on your parents' incomes unless you're an international student. American students put all that info into FAFSA and I'm assuming Columbia goes by FAFSA to determine whether you are a dependent or not. I'm 26, and am not considered a dependent.

No, I'm not an international student. I've completed the Fafsa but on Columbia's online form, it's written in bold that ALL SECTIONS must be completed.

on a separate note, anyone have any idea when Columbia expects to give notice? A girl I took the test with said March 15th, but that seems a little ambitious.

I filled out the FinAid app and didn't have to enter my parents' income. I think there's a caveat about only filling that out if they're still supporting you. And I heard by April 1 for letters.

I heard April 1 also, though I hear the notices sometimes come late.

As a word of warning...I've heard that, for the most part, they don't give much scholarship money. Columbia expects people to take out huge loans to go there.
