Topic: Creative Source Finding?

I was just wondering what are some of the most creative ways some of you have used to find a source for a story. I feel like I'm edging toward a rut when it comes to story research. Whenever I have to write a piece, I immediately start looking toward the Internet, looking for online groups etc.

I know I'm doing myself a disservice but lately I can't seem to think outside of the box. My excuse is that I often write about health issues so its hard to find people by staking out the mall. But still, health isn't the only topic I cover; I can do better.

Hearing some anecdotes from you guys about some creative way you found people to interview for a story might get my mental juices flowing.

Any thoughts?
