Sorry, I have to agree with the other designers. This is the reason why companies think they don't need to hire designers. Why bother when there are already templates out there for everything, at hardly any cost (identity packages, magazine layouts, website layouts... ect.). I'm going to consider myself lucky that I work for a company that hires as many DESIGNERS needed to handle all the creative work.

You?re bunch of whiners. Are you guys not confident enough? (One of you even has Confident Designer as screen name) Those are 8 page templates and you feel threatened that companies not going to hire Designers anymore? Please. Check out links before you post a comment about them. If you read the FAQ it says the templates are made for beginner Designers. In so many postings, Designers are asking for Magazine Templates. It?s answering a need. Some of you have 25+y experience and answer like that? What does it say about your skills?

If it's for beginners, maybe the beginner should be learning the basics first, before tackling template design? I don't think much can be learned from using a cookie-cutter stock template. Or maybe it's the same person who buys term papers...

I really don't see the fuss, those templates cater to the very junior designer and/or editor, business owner, etc. that thinks they can do it themselves. Fine.

Any designer worth their salt should know that every mag, story, etc. should have a unique design that communicates the idea behind it. Example: would you use the same template for Martha Stewart and Snowboarder mags?

It just ain't that simple, and that's why we get hired!
