Topic: What size is your portfolio?

I want to know if, this time around, I need to change anything (besides updating my samples, of course). I am in publication design, so most of my samples are full 2-3 page standard size layouts. My question is, what is the best way to present these? Currently, I have a portfolio that fits 8 1/2 by 11 pages, and I have individual pages in each sleeve. However, when I have multiple-page layouts I feel like I can only include the first page or opening spread so that there are not too many pages for interviewers to look through. I was just wondering if I should get a larger size portfolio, large enough so that I can present multiple pages in each sleeve and have the entirety of each layout. Or, do employers only want to see the opening page/spread anyway? I want to present my work as completely as possible, but also don't want to turn an interviewer off by dropping a massive portfolio on his or her desk. Any thoughts on the subject would be very much appreciated! Thanks! |
