Hello, guys.
I need to edit ten 3-4 page articles on real estate for a client's client.
How much should I charge for a full project?
$200 per article? $2000 total?
I have no idea. HELP !!!

I'd charge by the hour, $50 an hour

Thank you, Redhead.
But I usually charge a flat fee.
Eventually I charged $1,500.
Any thoughts?? I am still a bit confused...

For editing I always charge by the hour, but I can usually estimate how long it will take by figuring I edit at an average of ten pages (double spaced, Times New Roman 12pt) per hour. You can derive a flat fee from that. I know several other editors who use this formula, too (one of them gave it to me in the first place), and we all find it to be pretty accurate at the end of the project.

Good luck!

Asking others what to charge is dangerous from several views. One is that the person may have qualifications that differ from yours and might offer more or less value than you can. That means you might be asking for more than someone would be willing to pay, or less.

The other basic problem is that someone else's rate doesn't help if you have different business models. You need to calculate your economic requirements to set a floor hourly rate that you need to make. Here's a link on my site that has a business planning article that can help you in this:
