| adore | Posted 2/26/2008 10:46:27 PM | show profile Are there such things as pr internships for high school students? I've asked at many pr firms and they only take college students. I really want to expose myself to the industry before applying to colleges and can't seem to find any. If there aren't any internships, does anyone know of other opportunities? |

Offer to be placed on a one month trial period. I would focus on smaller companies though. Bigger firms would be harder to sway and it's much easier to learn real skills in smaller companies. |

| reporterwriter | Posted 3/2/2008 12:19:01 AM | show profile There are indeed internships for high school students. One of the best interns I ever knew was in high school; she went on to college and then to the Wall Street Journal right out of school! (This was a newspaper reporting internship, though; not a p.r. internship.) Don't look for internships for high school students, because you won't find them. Instead, write letters of introduction to places where you'd like to do an internship. The letter will say who you are and what qualifies you to be an intern. Do apply early! The deadlines for most summertime internships fall from November-January. |
