| fmcgee | Posted 3/4/2008 12:20:47 PM | show profile | email poster I have no idea if my resume reflects my talent and expirence. I feel terrible, because I'm a writer I should know how to write a resume and still I have my doubts about my resume. Is there a resume writing service just for writers or would anyone be willing to view my resume? |
| candylilacs | Posted 3/4/2008 3:15:16 PM | show profile I'd check out Monster. Although they don't really have "writer resumes" they do have marketing and similar occupations. They also explain the difference between a functional and chronological resume (and why you should do one over the other.) Anyway, they have quite a bit of archives on the stuff and probably more than you thought you would ever need. Just don't agree to any e-mails from their partners or you will be bombarded! ------ http://www.mswritesguide.blogspot.com |
| westsidestory | Posted 3/4/2008 3:17:50 PM | show profile make sure you have spell check. Otherwise it will be (ahem) mayhem (sorry couldn't resist) good luck! |
| fmcgee | Posted 3/4/2008 4:17:10 PM | show profile I said writer not editor. so anyways |
| Mirage | Posted 3/4/2008 5:38:46 PM | show profile Right... ...because someone who writes for a living doesn't need to know basic spelling. |
| Jerose | Posted 3/4/2008 6:15:13 PM | show profile Sorry to say, but anyone in journalism, in ANY capacity, is judged by his or her spelling errors, so get over the friendly barb at your spelling error. That said, I would recommend using your college's placement office. I'm over the hill compared to beginners, but I still went back to my grad school placement office to have my resume critiqued a few months ago. Get someone who is really harsh for the best advice. The person may suggest that you change the format of the resume if that's a problem. Best of luck! |
