i'm working on a master's in writing and would like to find an internship or preferably a part-time job (money is always nice). my problems are these: 1) i don't know exactly what i do want to do other than write, but i do know i don't want to work at a newspaper 2) i live in stupid nashville - not exactly a wonderland of opportunity 3) i don't really know that much about the small writing community that does exist here or really even where to find it. i need some experience and the ever valuable networking.
now, before you tell me, yes, i know, i'm sure my school would have some great resources for me - if i could get the person who handles internships to actual return an email or phone call.
alright, any and all helpful thoughts would be much appreciated. thanks.

Nashvillian here!
Hello! Check JournalismJobs.com for local opportunities and also Craigslist. There are tons of freelance opportunities. Also, I just heard about a job in Franklin that I won't take because it's on-site. It's writing web articles for Magazines.com. I know Lebanon is hiring a reporter now, but it's a hellhole, I only stayed four months. I am now a full-time freelancer. Shoot me an e-mail, HayliMorrison - at - bellsouth.net
I can forward you that Franklin job opportunity e-mail I got and also the sites I look at daily for freelance opportunities. Good luck!
