| a.s. | Posted 3/10/2008 5:17:56 PM | show profile How soon do you think is most appropriate for sending a thank you note after an interview? (I'm talking, here, about an email follow-up rather than a hand written letter in mail.) Does writing it immediately after have a stalker-ish feel to it? |
| slink | Posted 3/10/2008 6:25:06 PM | show profile I think the next day is best. |
| NYCWriter9423 | Posted 3/10/2008 7:27:15 PM | show profile I suggest same or next day at the latest. rebeccalbrown.tumblr.com |
| Ahppy1 | Posted 3/11/2008 5:29:33 PM | show profile Handwritten-have it in the mail the next day. I have e mialed the end of the day of the interview or the next day in the morning |
| foodlit | Posted 3/11/2008 7:06:55 PM | show profile the sooner the better, same day is best or next day. Still, better late than not at all, so just make sure you send one period, because most of your competition won't bother. |
| snappiness | Posted 3/11/2008 9:40:52 PM | show profile I'm not sure I agree a journalist should send a thank you note to a source for an interview. They're usually dying for the free publicity, why should I thank them for that? |
| TravelPRGirl | Posted 3/11/2008 10:33:22 PM | show profile Snappiness, I am pretty sure that they are talking about job interviews, not story interviews, but correct me if I'm wrong. |
| momomo | Posted 3/11/2008 11:49:55 PM | show profile I think next day is good. Sending it the same day looks a little too desperate. Also, I highly recommend EMAILING your thank-yous. My current boss hit reply and offered me a job in response to an email thank-you I sent. If I had sent a note via snail mail, who knows if he would have replied or how long it might have taken... |
| snappiness | Posted 3/16/2008 10:20:00 PM | show profile TravelPRGirl -- thanks, I was a little worried that I was missing some weird journalism etiquette thing. |
