I'm a former advertising creative director who ended up working in a high-end flower shop. The emphasis in my job has just changed from arranging flowers to marketing the business. (Flowers, plants, decorative accessories, events, weddings, etc.) Can anyone help me with a crash course in PR and publicity?

as a primer, get Michael Levine's "Guerrilla PR." It gives you the basics and is still relevant even thought it hasn't been updated much for the web. Its aimed at smaller projects like what you described in your post.

Guerrilla PR Wired
I'm very new to the PR game and I recently picked up the book Guerrilla PR Wired. It covers all the same concepts of the original Guerrilla PR but is also updated for the web.
