I'm sure this topic has been covered in so many different ways but could I please get some idea on what I should charge for writing articles for new website. I was approached by a friend who has a website that she is trying to expand to include new topics and she wants me to be one of her writers. But I'm not sure what to charge because its a fairly new site. Any ideas?

Like magazines, it's all over the place. For web sites that are online versions of print magazines that pay $1 a word or more, the online rates are generally about 75% of the print rates.

For online only, it can be anything, on the quality of the site, and the quality of writing they want.

Personally, I just approach stuff like this as any other project. My time and talent is worth X number of dollars. The buyer can either afford it or not. So I don't worry about trying to guess what they'll be willing to pay, or what's "fair,"
