I've seen a lot of post here about men's mags accepting essays, but all the ones I've queried said they don't accept them. Can someone give me a list??

I don't write for men's magazines but aren't there a bunch listed in the How To Pitch sectionof Media Bistro? Rather than query blindly, go to a good book or magazine store,
spend some time and study the markets. You need to do
that anyway to get a sense of their style and what they use.

In my experience, most men's magazines don't want or encourage essays, but they'll use them if the right writer hits them with the right idea. However, they generally don't have an essay "slot" they need to fill and don't officially take essays. Also, it depends on what you mean by essay, which can be a very broad term from slice-of-life pieces, to humor pieces, to heavily reported long articles with a personal slant. Some magazines are more likely to take one type of essay than another.
