I got some great experience here and my duties have gone beyond that of a regular Editorial Assistant. I have written a ton and edited large features. I would like to move up to a magazine that I actually enjoy reading and although I work for a large publishing company, I would like to move to a different company. How do I go about finding a job at an Assistant Editor level? Is one year as an Editorial Assistant enough? I have at least 15-20 bylines at my magazine plus clips from freelance work I do on the side. Do I request informational interviews with HR and editors just like I would for an EA position? DO magazines hire Assistant Ed?s from outside or do they just promote their EA?s? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
