| prprof | Posted 4/8/2008 1:01:46 PM | show profile So, I know its about that time when we should start thinking about holiday gift guides. And I have always known that May/June was the best time to pitch. What do you guys think? When is the best time to pitch the holiday issues? |
| NYCWriter9423 | Posted 4/9/2008 10:29:02 AM | show profile Every book is different Depending on who you are pitching, some books have 40-day lead times and some have four to five months. Ask for an editorial calendar, that is really the smartest thing to do. As an editor, receiving untimely pitches for GG never benefited anyone -- the likelihood of the pitch being forgotten, misplaced, etc., is high when GG is not fresh in my mind. Now again every book is different, but it is all about timing. Some pubs post their Editorial Calendar online, but it if isn't just call and ask the EA's to send you one. www.rebeccalbrown.tumblr.com |

| addictedtochanel | Posted 4/16/2008 5:30:03 PM | show profile giftlistmedia.com It's a cool program that tells you all Holiday GG deadlines pretty much every long lead and short lead. I think it's like $500 but if you have a few clients that can use it it's really worth it. |
