I still haven't had any luck finding calls for submissions. Am I doing something wrong?

Check out Poets and Writers' classifieds--they have an anthology section. I think it's also on their website.

Most of these anthology invites come via the writer grapevine; the more folks you know, who know your work, the better your chances of being asked.

But you can also find decent calls in Poets & Writers mag, in Writer's Chronicle (a montly mag available from the AWP site), and sometimes on the various websites, blogs that writers frequent.

Good luck.

Are you looking in Poets & Writers? Jerzy is right. I am editing an anthology right now and invited about 15 writers I know to contribute. I'm also buying a few reprints, and I placed an ad in Poets & Writers and other places but I gotta say that I got only a few pieces from these ads that I can use. Much of the stuff read like first drafts that had never been workshopped. This is why editors conact people they know.
