Posted 4/13/2008 6:02:36 PM | show profile | email poster I've been working in communications, PR and editorial for more than five years. If you include college, it goes back 10 years. However, I have never had a media mentor. Of all the places I've worked I never worked with someone who was really willing to be that guide. Some managers or top media ppl either ended up being unwilling, lost, too busy or dependent on my skills for the rest of the dept. so never showed me anything after coming on board. So every time I had a question or needed some guidance, I never had an adviser to turn to. I've gone on either wits or called on peers. What I'm looking for is someone who has been in the industry more than 10 years. Someone who knows it backwards and forwards. And is gracious and knowledgeable all at the same time. Not attitude and arrogance with charm to cover up what you don't know ... real education in communications with real work and world experience. That's who I want to mentor me. I may just have a question from time to time. I'm not a newby. So I won't be a constant bother. An occasional email at most when I run into situation. A little more about me: I'm in my early 30s, female from Texas and I work in communications for a global company. If you're interested, please email me. I'll respond at my earliest opportunity. Thanks.
