Hello Fellow Writers,
Wow. Too funny for words. When I came to this site today and saw the topic of choice with photo--OMG. Well, gotta admit you all had excellent answers. And you were so there for me. I was stressed out to the max. Again, I feel badly I didn't take your advice in the end. But I did try...

Remember, if you find yourself in this situation and ignoring doesn't work -- confrontation can work. Think of schools when we were bullied as kids. It takes guts to defend yourself but in this case it worked wonders. The sites are calm now. It's calm. I'm calm.

OK. You all were right. Yeah, there was a good day due to the confrontation but...innuendos are still flying here and there on one of the sites we all go to and is related to my work. It's not as mean but it certainly can go in that direction - again.

Guess it's back to Plan A: ignore, ignore, ignore...And delete private emails (those are coming in again, too...but different from religious quotes to "friendly" notes). I should have listened to you all but I felt backed into a corner. Think of the kid being bullied by the big bad jock. I felt I didn't have a choice.

But you all were right. I should have followed your advice.

the laws will vary from state to state in dealing with online harassment, however it may not hurt to check the attorney general's page for your state and see if they have a high tech unit, if so contact that department and give them an update of what's going on. if they don't have a high tech unit contact your state police and ask to speak to an investigator regarding an online issue. if you have information about the person harassing you (these people tend to be fairly ignorant and will have left a trail) pass that on to the officer as well.

I've helped a few people resolve online harassment issues and I've found that a quick phone call or email from a police officer tends to curb the activity.

As other people have mentioned keep a record of what happened and file it away.

If this continues let me know as I'm a member of an International organization that includes both law enforcement and private sector in regards to technical issues. I could lookup contact info for the nearest law enforcement member in your area and pass that along.

best wishes in resolving this

I should have listened to you all. She is ridiculing me on work-related sites again. Bullies do not go away. I should have listened.

I'm sorry you are being harassed again, but didn't you read my post about stalkers and exhibitionists and the like? This person just wants attention, and you continually feed the flame. Sorry, but if you want it to stop, YOU stop dealing with her and if you must, look to the law and any support sites you can to get her out of your hair. You cannot do this on your own, haven't you learned that????

good luck and don't write back to this person ever again. If you do, the next thing is possibly, the poster will make a beeline for your door. Just let it be. It's only words on a screen. Everyone else on your site knows this poster and understand the situatuation. Work behind the scenes and DO NOT engage in communication with this person.

Ctal--still there? Can you help me? Ignoring/confronting has not helped. This individual is still sending me private emails via a work-related webite (I cannot find the block device), stalking me on the other sites linked to my work, cut and pasting my words...She's out to destroy me...

I called the police but until it's a real threat--nothing can be done. I've gone through this before, occasionally, but the people always just go away. She is not. Please email me -- I don't want this thread on this board to go on an on...Just need another alternative other than relocating to a new planet. I feel like Nolte in Cape Fear. No kidding.

Oh come on. I can't believe you want to drag law enforment into an internet flame fest. They have better things to do with there time than to field your phone calls.

If someone says something you don't like on the internet, LOG OFF. It's just that simple. Even teens on myspace learn that rule more quickly than you.

You are being overly dramatic (as I remember you always were), thus your play-by-play here.

Furthermore, if you don't want people following you from one website to another, stop putting your personal information out there for all to see. I've not been on this board in a year, maybe more, yet I still remember your name, where you live...

hey Vox-o, you're not by chance the person the poster is talking about?

Seattleme, are you really this idiotic? Rhetorical question.

I have been on this board since Hireminds -- but I post rarely anymore because of silly people such as yourself.
