Chris Mathews was on Colbert and didn't deny he might run for Arlen Spector's seat in 2010. That oughta be interesting. He has such a long history of outrageous statements that he'll probably be teflon when it comes to gaffes. Everyone will just say, "That's Mathews." I guess we'll find out what party he aligns with now. I think he's a Democrat.

Thanks for the friendly reply
You'll notice I wondered where he aligns NOW, genius. Everybody knows he was a Democrat when he worked in politics, but several of my "lefty" friends think he converted to the Republican Party some years ago. He sometimes expresses admiration for certain Repubs, although less so as the war has dragged on. He definitely doesn't like the Clintons, and I don't think he had much use for Gore or Kerry, either.

Democrat
I doubt Mathews would win, because Ed Rendell is pretty pissed with the way MSNBC blindly supports Obama, and attacks Clinton whom he supports. Unless Mathews kisses his ass he has no chance.

He has managed to annoy the far left and the right. Good luck in raising money.

Last year he compared Sen. Clinton to Luca Brasi.

He is bi-polar
"I give her a lot of personal credit; I will never underestimate Hillary Clinton again." the following day he said "The reason she's a U.S. Senator, the reason she's a candidate for President, the reason she may be a front-runner, is her husband messed around. That's how she got to be Senator from New York. We keep forgetting it. She didn't win it on the merits..."

I agree
It's either that or he just plays one on tv

Just because Mathews shouldn't have said that about Hillary, doesn't mean it's not true. She was a hugely unpopular figure before the Lewinsky mess. By the time she started poking around the senate, her stoicism during that period had generated a large groundswell of sympathy from voters. She certainly didn't get the job because of "experience."

Y'all don't watch Hardball much, do you? Yes, he was a Democrat back in the day, but the evidence is not at all clear now. He's not as transparently liberal as Olbermann, and he's just as likely to praise a particular Repub as a Dem. I agree he's PROBABLY a Dem, but carries some conservative views, and if he thought he could win as one, would run Independent.

Wow! That tells me absolutely nothing. Neither is anyone else.

That's what BARAK HUSSEIN OBAMA doesn't realize ... once he goes face to face with the MAC DADDY the Repubs are going to TEAR HIM APART. No time for being a wuss in the world of politics OR message boards! Go home and cry in your granola, Bikey!!

No problem with Lobo
Just dishing back a little. You, on the other hand, with your stupid CAPS and your stupid BARACK HUSSEIN are a complete moron. Your implication that Obama's middle name makes him an Islamic terrorist is ignorant, childish and un-American. Troll.

Incivility
That is his middle name. You dont want to acknolwedge that, but its true. Chris Matthews is a lib, and he makes no attempt to hide his obvious bias. HLe should never to be allowed to be in the senate, he would vote for our troops to go without funds, and have to surrender to the terrorists.

I don't mind that it's his middle name. I mind that it's bandied about in a dishonest attempt to label him something he is not.

Chris Mathews is a liberal with a strong conservative streak, but mostly, he's nuts. I also think he was disingenous on Colbert. He claims he loves public service, but he obviously is in love with the politics - and politicians - that come with it. His admiration for Reagan or Bush or Obama has little to do with their views. He just likes a talented politician. He must have HATED Carter. Why do you think he doesn't like Hillary? She's lousy at it.

Lobo
I'm talking to Gipper87. I mentioned in my reply to him that I have no problem jousting with you. I do disagree with your reference to Obama as Hussein because I think emphasizing his middle name is a blatant attempt to paint him as a Muslim. The Barry part is funny, though.

Gipper is a troll because he never carries on a real discussion. He just shouts about evil liberals. What exactly is the point in that? He's a conservative. I know that. You're a conservative, too, but you seem to use that perspective to back up actual opinions. If you look at my posts, I'm not just shouting about how wonderful my crowd is and how you guys are all jacked up. I'm voicing opinions and agreeing or disagreeing with yours. If you're just going to call people names, half the time in all caps, you're a troll - or Layla
