Maybe so. I went to a rather large "state school," or as some Yalie told me, "Pretty good for a state school" university.

It's not based on elitism, it's based on what kind of sponsorship the mag has.

I have a good friend who is a full time staffer in the communications department at an east coast university. I can tell you, he loves it. He was a reporter at a mid-size regional daily before taking a full-time post there. He's able to freelance (on top of the work he does for the U.) and gets some nice perqs, including free classes, access to athletic faciliites, etc.
