First, a big old thanks to all who helped last week. Stellar advice, I took it, and things are improving (I don't want to get into any more detail than that.)

So I want to work a Joe job (call center or very entry-level tech support) while I freelance - you know, for money to go out and have a good time, buy new writing books, etc. My resume, post-college, shows that I am a writer, editor, and multimedia designer. It does not say, "Hey, I really want to pick up some hours at a call center."

Might I have some tips on how to re-structure my resume so I look like someone who just wants a chill, fun phone job? Is it ethical to downplay your past jobs? I've held a few really good ones and done some respectable freelance thus far, as well.

Do you mean telemarketing
I once raised money for a museum, and they LOVED me because I "sound classy", being of a different sort from your usual telemarketer. If this is what you mean by call center, please note that it's not exactly a "chill, fun" job. You're there to close. Being articulate helps, and I'm sure you are!

Yes, the phones!
Oh I totally understand - I have years of TM experience myself. I am specifically looking for customer service or tech support positions. They're not chill, either, I know, but compared to being on daily, harrowing deadline, they will seem easier.

Basically, I want to convey that I know my way around phones and computers. I'm afraid my resume will be passed over in favor of someone who does not have a niche skill set. Should I do a functional resume with an emphasis on CS skills, then?
