Anyone else have one?

The Sue Ellen found out she has a hole in her heart. It's a bad hole...all abnormal and everything. Anyone else have one?

Very sorry to hear about this. When did you find out and what will it mean?

Oh dear that doesn't sound good. I'm sorry I don't know anything about it but I hope it turns out to not be too serious.

According to the Cleveland Clinic's website, the prevalence in the general population of PFO is 25%. But when it happens to you, who gives a damn what the prevalence is!

Bottom line, if you need a second opinion, or an opinion at all, head to the Cleveland Clinic. They're, arguable #1 when it comes to heart issues.

Do not, repeat, do not go to The Mayo Clinic. I don't care what ANYONE says!

Other excellent heart hospitals include:

Columbia Presbyterian Hospital
Barnes-Jewish/ Washington University
St. Francis Hospital of Roslyn

Thanks, VR. Yes, 20% of the pop has one, but mine is abnormal. The shape of the hole makes me more at risk for an anyeurism or stroke.

So very very sorry to hear that. We'll be thinking of you. Have they said there is anything you can do for it, surgery or meds, to fix or make those negative possibilities less likely?

I have a heart murmur. Is that the same thing?

Sweet Sue Ellen
It is a tough diagnosis to be on the receiving end of....but you will get through this.

My aunt had the first baby ever known to be born with a hole in it's heart in the 1950's in NY, it was huge news. It was repaired and the baby grew up and grew old.

My heart sends your heart a hug.
xoxo

Thanks all. I am actually fine. I'm not worried. I'm not upset. I'm not stressed. I just wanted to know if any of you had something like this and if you've had any issues.

I'm really not the slightest bit affected by this yet...

A new episode of my favorite show "House" was on last night. Mentioned several times as a possible diagnosis to the patient's symptoms was "PFO." What a coincidence!
