| writesonwater | Posted 4/29/2008 4:57:14 AM | show profile I am confounded lately by having two confidences leaked. I've narrowed them down to two possible sources, the supposedly trustworthy individuals I confided in. I can only suppose they valued the chance to gossip much more than my friendship. My dilemma -- how to find out which one spilled the private beans? Do I confront both, perhaps appearing paranoid to one? I'm inclined at this point to just give up having anyone to tell anything personal to. I think that's monstrous unfair, considering the confidences I keep for others. Have you ever had a confidence betrayed? |
| Thabit | Posted 4/29/2008 8:16:21 AM | show profile ouch I know how much that hurts. Worse that you don't know where the leak came from... When this happened to me, I asked the person who helped spread this little factoid about my personal life where they heard it from. I wasn't mad, just curious. Well, that and stunned. It turned out to be the partner of the confidante who blabbed. Now, I tend to assume whatever confidences I give to people will be told to husband, wife, partner, and so I always say so, but ask that it will be "kept in the family" in other words not told outside of the two of them... It's hard not to have anyone to confide in and it'd be a shame to cut out the wrong person -- I would try and find out, not worrying about how you might appear... good luck! |
