I'm sure many of you can sympathize with my situation! I work at a regional magazine division -- we publish three titles (two per month), but there are only three of us that are directly involved in editorial/design/production -- so we all have about 5 job titles! Does anyone have any recommendations on a good book for basic photography techniques? I'm finding myself having to take more and more pictures, but other than recreational photos, I don't have any formal training, nor is it an option for me to enroll in any sort of class.

Any suggestions you can offer would be appreciated!

It would be helpful to know
What type of magazines?

We publish two magazines that are each county-based, so we have a lot of lifestyle and community-driven content. One county is mostly small towns and a large military post, and the other is a mix of rural and urban. The third title is a leisure, entertainment and dining mag that's skewed a little younger and encompasses a larger area than the other two magazines combined, including small towns and large cities, all within the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
