| Lisa F | Posted 5/1/2008 3:13:22 PM | show profile Maybe I should make it a bit clearer. I am not a professional writer, but I have a story that I would like written and submitted to newspapers. What is the process? Any insight/advice is truly appreciated! |
| write2rachel | Posted 5/1/2008 3:32:29 PM | show profile | email poster Are you a PR person or the person you want to be written about? PR people usually do the press release thing and blast it out to newspapers, magazines, websites, etc. If you have something interesting, drop me a line. I am always looking for fun, interesting topics to pitch. Either way -- good luck! ------ www.rachelcericola.com |

Find a writer you like or someone who has written a similar story. All of the writers at my local paper have their emails at the end of the internet versions of their articles. I work in TV News - the best advice I can give is not to write the Magna Carta. Keep it simple and airy and easy. Just like you would sell the story to a friend. Ask that if they aren't interested, would they take a second to reply and let you know so you can offer it up somewhere else. Don't load it down with tons of details. Short sweet and to the point get read. If you are interested in TV News doing the story, call the news desk and ask for the Special Project Producer or someone who handles human interest stories. Hope this helps. |
