lolawrites "First, Latin1, you are wrong in saying that Rev. Wright is Obama's personal minister."

Actually Rev. Wright WAS Obama's PERSONAL minister.

Wright was the person who personally brought Obama to Christianity.

Wright counseled the Barack/Michelle on their marriage.

Wright married them.

Wright baptisted their children.

Wright was on Barack Obama's presidental campgain board.

Obama's book is named after a Wright sermon.

Obama dedicated one of his books to Wright.

Obama states that Wright was one of the most influential persons in his adult life.

soooo lola...that sounds pretty 'personal' to me.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/04/opinion/04friedman.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=who+will+tell+the+people&st=nyt&oref=slogin

Did anyone catch Friedman's op-ed titled "Who Will Tell the People?" He discusses this very subject of how we are not as powerful or great as we think we are. From it:

"Who will tell the people? We are not who we think we are. We are living on borrowed time and borrowed dimes. We still have all the potential for greatness, but only if we get back to work on our country."

Oh, and by the way, yes I'm an American, but have lived abroad and travel abroad often. And I think that you can love your country and point out that there is racial injustice in it and in the world and that this very country's actions are partly responsible for atrocities against it. And I think that if a church does more good than harm, if it needs to wrap itself in whatever liberation theology it wants to feed and clothe and nourish spirits I don't much care. It has no place in politics though.

And to the poster who said what would the media do if it were Clinton's pastor? Hah!!!!! The media has given Clinton an absolute free pass on her (not her pastor's) war vote that has sent thousands of Americans to die and be maimed. A vote for which she did not prepare by personally reading intelligence or apologize for after it backfired. Yes, what would the media do if it were Clinton's pastor? And what about all of Bill Clinton's connections with foreign governments since leaving the WH? Fully vetted. Sure they are.

Is this man running for office? That's the question. Is he running?

Did the black man that is running say that he should be the nominee because he is getting the black vote ... that there's a "pattern emerging" and that he deserves the nomination because he's getting the black vote? Or was it some other candidate who said something very similar?

I don't believe the Clintons are racist, but I do believe that that statement she made was intended to appeal to whites who may not vote for a black man or who have identify more with her because she's of their race. And although she and her surrogates blame the AP report she was quoting, I'm pretty confident the AP report didn't insert hard-working before white.

Point is: Wright's not running. There's plenty of material out there to judge these candidates on. All of this nonsense (racist, bitter comments) is still a distraction (whether it come from Clinton, McCain or Obama) from the real things we should be thinking about this election. The rest of the world watches (and gasps) again.

now let's compare.
How 'terrible' is Clinton's or McCain's pastor compared to Obama's personal minsiter and spiritual mentor?

No comparison.

Yet now some in the new media don't want to 'mention' this anymore.

This is one of the most important matters that the news media SHOULD be covering. Also Obama's ties to terrorist Bill Ayers who bombed a police station in New York, hurting several police officers.

Since we're on the subject of questionable personal affiliations, what ever happened to Hill's brothers -- the ones who were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to get Bill to pardon their criminal friends? Was that how the story went? Who can remember?

It's JUDGEMENT anc CHARACTER.
Writermum.

It goes to Obama's judgement and character...plus many people don't know about Obama's past and THE MEDIA SHOULD CHECK and they did and guess what?

Obama has BLANTANT racist anti-American ties.
