| Just Looking | Posted 5/2/2008 11:46:33 PM | show profile It's been four years since I graduated from college and I am currently at my second EA job. Right now I'm job hunting, preferably for an editor position of some sort, since I don't want to be an EA forever, but I'm really unhappy where I'm at and would gladly move into another EA job just to be elsewhere. Before I do that though, I'm wondering how many EA jobs look okay on a resume? Is three EA jobs too many?? Does it even matter? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? |
| reporterwriter | Posted 5/3/2008 10:44:42 AM | show profile I think bouncing from EA job to EA job looks like you're making a career of being an EA. I would wonder what has kept you from getting that "editor position of some sort." Skills? Direction? Motivation? Self esteem? |
| katemc | Posted 5/3/2008 1:48:53 PM | show profile i agree i think you should only accept titles of assistant editor or associate editor. you need to take the next step and you need to believe in yourself enough to have the confidence to get those jobs. usually EA's stay at their first jobs for 2 years max. any longer than that it gets awkward for everyone, not to mention you're not getting the respect, money, and experience you deserve. you have great experience at this point and don't sell yourself short. also- on a side note- remember that no job is perfect- after everything else, a job is a job, so don't fret if you're not in love with your current job. that really is the norm and it's best to make the most of it while you search for a new one... good luck!! |
