| sofisays | Posted 5/5/2008 10:38:02 AM | show profile | email poster Hello Wineaux. I have seen your post's throughout MB. Do you have any affiliation with the magazine, "Wineaux?" If you do, do you have any other suggestions about pitching ideas for the magazine? I have read the writer's guidelines. Do you have anything else to add? Thanks~ Sofi |
| wineaux | Posted 5/5/2008 1:03:32 PM | show profile I don't have any affiliation with the magazine. I used to write for the wine and tourism industry in N. Cal. I was once at a tasting event and a woman walked by with a t-shirt on that said Wineaux on it. I thought it was clever. Now I'm seeing it around more. Maybe it's time to change my screen name. I've never pitched them, but then again, I no longer write about booze. I came up with the screen name sometime ago, when I was still in the business. Do you have any experience writing for the wine industry? That's usually the best pre-requisite you can have to get your foot in the door. If not, I can give you some suggestions that would make you a more likely candidate for a wine publication. |
| sofisays | Posted 5/5/2008 2:18:47 PM | show profile | email poster Wineaux.. Thanks for answering. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have never written on wine. And I would never pitch (at this stage) to Gourmet or other wine mags, but "wineaux's" guidelines are very specific. They are not interested in stuffy, arrogant or uppity wine writing. The mag is geared towards a younger wine drinking audience. Actually, they have a pretty big list of words they do not want to see in print. One example, sommelier. Or the phrase, "nectar of the gods." I've come up with an idea to pitch, but, not to be paranoid, I do not want to give the idea on this message board- Sorry. But, again, if you have any suggestions, I could definitely use them. Thank you for the offer. |

We all know the story of how you took Red Monkey Jeans from a little sweatshop on the lower east side and made it a mega billion $$$ fashion empire. Who would have thought that if you sell a pair of jeans for $500 in a little wooden box, people would buy it. That was genius!!! Sorry about the Benwis thing. |
