>>Time passes, one matures, sees things in a more realistic light and moves on.

Give np some time......we'll all get where we're going...<<

Gern, that's about one of the wisest things I've read on these boards. But don't sell yourself short, you always were very clever.

np, don't stay away too long. All of us who have put ourselves out there, on a limb at times expressing our passion unchecked, get shot down from time to time. I've attacked others myself at times, and been the recipient of attacks, and neither feels good. Don't take it to heart.

WTF happened?
I am obviously out of the loop with whatever's been going on. Reading through all these posts, it looks like shit has hit the proverbial fan with NP. I haven't been following the Current Events section for some time. Ron of Mexico, or whatever his name is, made my head hurt, so I just left it alone and took comfort in the OT section, where I've happily hung out for many years now.

The only thing that ever bothered me about NP was that she posted a kagillion times in every thread. A little annoying yes, but certainly not enough for the Smackdown that seems to have happened.

Anyone care to fill me in on the particulars? Or is it just too much to rehash?

Oh, good grief.
How old are we?

And why do we care what strangers on the Internet think of our opinions?

Oy!

Grov and company: It's boring without NP that's for sure. It's much more interesting with different points of view in the topics. She seems to be able to bring that out in living color. I guess sometimes you read someone wrong and respond. It happens and I think it's worse in this environment.

Reporterwriter, got so incensed by a post of NP's about the media and my response. Funny, I rarely take the bait, but I did. Then all hell broke loose. Personally I don't mind debates or sharing. I actually enjoy those conversations.

I didn't see the situation like others on this thread, but then we have all had our own interactions with personalities in this forum. Personally I didn't like the conversation nor one of the purposeful debasing comments in particular, but call me prude.

NP, don't lose your passion. It's what makes you interesting and it's what makes you fight for what you believe in. Trust me when I say this; many people would love you fighting for them or one of their causes. The old hindu story tells of this with striking wisdom. There is always the flip side of the coin.

Everyone has had different life experiences and we all speak from that perspective. Maybe one is wiser than another, but maybe it's just wiser from that point of view.

The question I have is how do you bring those pieces of wisdom together?

>>The question I have is how do you bring those pieces of wisdom together?<<

You do it by embracing the notion that bloodying and libeling the other guy isn't a great way to express wisdom.

The variety and civility, and even the existence of dialog, in the last few days has been refreshing.

Team Nikon wins.

If Team Nikon wins, I'd like to hear the victory speech.

Reporterwriter........
What exactly do you win? Winning at who can be nastier makes you feel triumphant? Well, then you win! Both you and Nikon and your pathetic followers who have no other life, other than this imaginary existence you want to control here.
I have more important things to attend to in life now.
If revenge was what you were looking for, well you have it!
But you see, revenge is far sweeter for me. It's all the more sweet because I was here posting due to boredom and was passing the time until my cast came off and then during the completion of my physical therapy.
You on the other hand and your lovely companions can keep MB for I have no further use for it! I find it tedious and boring... now that I am out and about again.
I feel sort of sorry for some of you, as I have read everyone's RTQ responses each week, while I have been habnging out here. Many of you sound terribly lonely and without other souces of friendship. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so jealous of newcomers and their lives.
Backbiting abounds here and the childish behavior of those who can't have normal relationships outside of anonymous postings to strangers, brings me to the conclusion, that the lack of successes and the obvious insecurities of some of you has made this a haven for misfits.
So...I leave you to your own devices and sad existences.
I, on the other hand am happy to wonder off and continue my happy and fulfilling life.
I have no hard feelings believe me. I probably wouldn't have noticed you out in the real world anyway. Reporter and Nikon and your imaginary friends are the kind of people that no one notices, not really.
Totally insignificant and boiling beneath the surface because not one soul pays you any attention except in a unreal world called M.B. How sad and empty a life is that.
So live in your little kingdom. Long reign the misfits!

As for the typos, get over it!

NP: This is the third time you've left. I wish you had held out another day. Some others and I in my office who read the boards had a little pool going of when you would jump back in to call everyone a loser and pathetic and let us all know yet again how superior you are to everyone and I thought you would be able to last until Friday. I'm out 5 bucks!

What a sweetheart!

Cat,
That is too funny that your office had a pool going.
Sorry you lost five bucks, but thanks for the laugh!

thanks for enriching my empty life. and I have to change my answer about the last time I laugh loud to today 5:40 pm.

If only reporterwriter practiced what he preached. Wiseass doesn't equate to wisdom.

Team Nikon wins. "What grade are you'll in?"

Enough said.

Cat, I know I shouldn't even go here as I'm asking for you to start abusing me (please do feel free if it helps you...) but I've "seen" you in action before.

What is it about you that makes you feel you need to belittle people? I'm sure you were the impetus among your office mates to have an "office pool." Does it make you feel like a bigger person if you can laugh at others? Do you really need to do that to feel more worthwhile? If you asked your office mates about this flaw in your nature would they give you an honest answer (no they woudn't is the answer).

I'm not defending notpriveleged, she and I have had several run-ins about Obama (I like him, she doesn't).

So go ahead and go on the attack now. You can tell me, once again, how crazy I am and all that stuff if it makes you feel like a bigger person. Be as big as you want to be...

The reason I want to hear the "victory speech" is because I, too, started to doubt my first impressions about NP. I initially thought she was a bit of a wing nut, but then everybody embraced -- and encouraged -- her, so I thought, wow, I must be a cold-hearted son-of-a-bitch.

But after so many multiple posts littered with LOLs, !!!!! and ............etc. etc. I just couldn't read any more. I decided I'm just fine being an SOB; I couldn't put up with it. Evidently not having a media background, she didn't even have anything relevant to contribute, but since I just saw her on OT (wouldn't dream of cruising the other flame-fest threads), I thought that was fine. Just couldn't figure out what would draw her to MEDIA Bistro. Then the flaming started, and the wolf's teeth started to poke through the wool, and everyone was aghast.

I hadn't lost it after all; first impression correct: wing nut. Moral of the story? Trust your gut.

Guys, come on. The election is really enough to get our "real lives" in a tizzy, so why do we have to belittle a passionate poster about it? If you don't like what she writes, just ignore the post and move on. One or two posts putting another poster in her place is one thing, but creating a whole thread and making fun of her is another. NP, calm it down. "Team Nikon," grow up.
wineaux Posted – 5/8/2008 8:02:43 PM | show profile
I haven't been following the insult exchange. The threads are so long.

NP, you dispensed some really thoughtful and kind advice in my direction, which I really did value. Especially when you encouraged me to pursue more creative writing.

I'm guessing you got pushed hard to post the last comment you made. I know more than once on here I have been astounded by how bitter and mean people can get, and the attacks I've seen on here sometimes border maniacal. I imagine a lot of the people who can be very insutling on here wouldn't dream of behaving that way in the real world. It's a lot easier to type something mean to a total stranger than to say it to their face.

I came to this board shortly after I moved to a new area, in hopes of connecting with other writers, as working from a home office can often be isolating. I've met some ass-bags on here, people who seem to revel in feeling superior, and others that are just totally crackers. But, in addition, I've gotten some really wonderful advice on here, both professionally and personally, so I try to ignore the dipwads because there is a great value for me personally.

And really, other than the tv news trolls, I don't get the impression that most people on here are sad, lonely and without a life. At all. The nature of this business is so faced paced, and I think it's just the nature of writers to often have a very hard-edged, clinical and competitive manner when dealing with contemporaries. It's s tough business, and many of us get jaded. But, I think there are a great deal of funny, kind and insightful people on here, so I just don't buy your speech about the whole lot of us being losers. I think you are aiming to hurt, but I think you are well aware that this is a group of seasoned bullshit odometers.

Honestly, you posted an awful lot, and the casted leg aside, you had to think that no matter what website you visit, coming on that strong from the beginning can be very off-putting.

I think the personal attacks could be curbed a little more. It just seems so pointless.

Donna, I'm the watergun that shoots jelly. Or, maybe I'm more like the cowboy who rides and ostrich.

I never could figure out what the Raggidy Anne-type doll was afflicted with.

foto's kinda like the Charlie in the box.

Janet rules over us all as the flying lion.
