Oh really now? Says who?

Unfortunately it looks like some of our leaders are getting further and further out of touch with reality. (And I did try to negotiate an energy/Clinton/Obama fast, but my offer was not taken up...)

Hillary Clinton has made a new vow to confront OPEC, after oil broke the symbolic 120 dollars a barrel barrier on the eve of the next White House nominating showdown.

"We're going to go right at OPEC," Clinton said, on a last-minute campaign swing ahead of Tuesday's Indiana and North Carolina primary clashes against her Democratic rival Barack Obama.

"They can no longer be a cartel, a monopoly that get together once every couple of months in some conference room in some plush place in the world," Clinton said, sparking cheers in a crowded fire station.

"They decide how much oil they're going to produce and what price they're going to put it at," Clinton said.

"That's not a market. That's a monopoly," Clinton said, in her latest condemnation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, as her campaign takes on an increasingly populist tone amid rising gasoline prices.

Sounds like a good idea. Of course, she really doesn't have any jurisdiction. What she really should do is go to Saudi Arabia and say, "we took Iraq in three weeks. Guess how long will it to take your country?"

Great. And when we need cheaper timber, we can go to Thailand and threaten to invade them too unless they accept the price we're wiling to pay. And if we need extra copper, we can threaten to invade Peru unless they submit to our price controls. Coffee too expensive? No problem, we can just threaten to bomb Colombia unless they submit to what we are willing to pay.

Classy!

How can she stop OPEC? Even if we stopped consuming their oil(yea right) some of our allies like Japan have no other options. Russia,Mexico,Canada and Brazil cannot supply the world. We have had six presidents since the OPEC oil embargo of the 70's and OPEC is still here, I think it's just wishful thinking on her part.

Just a politician promising to find a quick and painless silver bullet to solve our problems. Useless.
