| beanie | Posted 5/7/2008 10:32:02 PM | show profile | email poster Looking to create my own syndicated press release - NAPS and others are TOO expensive for my client...I have the lists of folks to send it to, but I don't know how to format the article. Does anyone have any thoughts? Is there a formula for the "camera ready" artwork these types of companies send to the newspapers? I would imagine on CD and hardcopy, but are they in PDF? PSD? JPG? Columns? I am handy in Photoshop and Illustrator - or - do I need some other type of software. Anyone able to shed some light on how I can offer pre-written articles to newspapers where they can just lift it and place into the pub (esp for community papers and smaller daily papers) please email me. Many thanks in advance!! I know someone out there knows how it is done :) |
| MKE_Dave | Posted 5/8/2008 6:01:03 PM | show profile what you're talking about is a matte release format. everything is electronic these days. reconsider your tactic, i would consider using a traditional news release, sent electronically. |
| lolawrites | Posted 5/9/2008 1:22:38 PM | show profile I would recommend using InDesign. And sending via PDF should be fine. As for images, the 300dpi tends to be about standard these days. Most publications are using InDesign these days and they should be able to lift and paste into their format. However, writing the editors to find out is always best. |

You must hit the text button, but then it highlights the entire thing and all the formatting. I prefer Word documents, which are easier to edit and use. |
