| UGoGirl | Posted 5/9/2008 12:12:16 PM | show profile You know what, it really is over for Clinton. Fear-mongering about Wright is not going to put Clinton in the white house. I know you are deeply disappointed but it really is over. |
| seeattleme2 | Posted 5/9/2008 1:09:31 PM | show profile I rarely listen to anything my priests say. I've been attanding church since I was seven and it's all I can do to stay awake. I couldn't care less what Obama's preacher says. We have freedom of religion in this country. We should be able to listen to and say anything we want. That's why we left fucking Europe--it's why some left nazi Germany. I don't think it's wise to try and win an election based on the fact that someone sat and listened to some guy I may or may not like or agree with. We have bigger problems in this country. People are dying in Iraq because five years ago everyone was afraid to say shit--namely that we couldn't afford a war with Iraq, a war we would lose, a war that wasn't even justified. The solution to our problems isn't shutting people up, or supporting those who do not listen to what others have to say. It's letting more people speak and listening to what they have to say--especially the disenfranchised in this country, especially those who say things we do not like to hear or do not agree with. And no, I don't want any sugar-coated "ground rules" of civility. That's how Washington kept the passage of the right to vote from women and blacks for so long (watch Iron-Jawed Angels", it's currently on cable, and be amazed). It's how we 've managed to keep eco-activism on the back-burner--by shutting up the extremists with prison terms of 20 plus years. Give me the hard stuff. Give me people who tell it like they see it. I want--I need-- we need--to hear it. AT this rate, the Democrats will lose. |
| keke | Posted 5/9/2008 4:11:41 PM | show profile | email poster Jeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz America; we ought to look before we leap. A son is not purnished for the sins of his father! On television, we have seen a few religoius leaders convicted for rape; and other malicious things, the members are not judged based on their leader's characters, taughts etc. BIG EXAMPLE: BTK killer (i know this is extreme but just read)he has a family, they know a part of him that non of us know, he worked in the church, his fellow church members has seen the side that we do not know. So same goes for Obama; he knows his church leader like most of us know our religious leaders-we would NEVER be purnished for their mistakes, their personal believes and taughts. I am very much on the fence about who should lead America next, however we should get off the Rev. Wright news.......... on the news the other day, when he re-surfaced, if you all observe him very carefully, he was enjoying the 15mins fame........ he wanted to make it last.......... PLEASE dont give him that kind of attention, because people like him, FAME IS FAME~either negative or positive-They just want it!!! I PRAY THAT THIS COUNTRY WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE. |

| Stanley_Milgram | Posted 5/9/2008 10:20:04 PM | show profile np, i believe you have climbed beyond tedious and annoying and now you have reached a plateau of sublime boringness. |
| veraworld | Posted 5/9/2008 11:35:14 PM | show profile | email poster Stanley: Why would you answer a post by someone you consider so tedious? NP: I agree with you. Someone who sits and listens for 20!! years to such insulting thoughts and feelings and never felt badly about it until now -how convenient- I don't want him to be the next President of my country. |
| Stanley_Milgram | Posted 5/10/2008 7:04:07 AM | show profile well, vera, since you ask... it's like your SPAM box. Of course you ignore it. But at some point, you are inundated with so many come-ons to telling you how to add inches to your penis, receive canadian pharmacy drugs or order Breitling watches, that just scrolling through all of them in your junk folder (to make sure the filter hasn't accidentally caught one proper email) becomes a major effort, and casually scanning the subject headers becomes an assault on your sensibilities ("Your sausage will be the envy of the locker room!" "Make her cum like Hoover Dam!" "Hope for your LoveRod!"). In short, np, has turned the MB board into something like my email Inbox ("Obama the Cover Revealed! Don't Ignore!" "Obama Crazy with Hatred!" "Obama and Mobsters!") with the small exception that in this case, you actually can reach the SPAMMER and let them know how you feel. It's futile, I know. But so is swatting at flies and mosquitos, but every once in a while, you do it anyway. I hope this explanation clarifies things for you. |

But at some point, you are inundated with so many come-ons < This website has several boards. You can always dwell somewhere else besides Current Events. However, if you find that you simply cannot stay away from the CE board, you have many threads to choose from within it. Don't care about Obama or Clinton subjects? Don't open them. Want to find something different? Why not start by creating your own thread? B!tching and moaning about what you don't like to see gets you nowhere -- except, perhaps, a half-empty glass of boredom. |
| Guyarthurthomas | Posted 5/11/2008 12:06:24 PM | show profile The problem with Wright and Obama is that Obama The problem with Wright and Obama is that Obama refers to Wright as HIS MENTOR. A mentor is one who influences, teaches, guides and helps formulate the ideas and practices of a student. Obama had this HATE FILLED RACIST PARANOID BIGOT as his MENTOR for 20 years. So YES, it does not just justify but DEMANDS and detailed investigation into the FILTH, HATE, RACISM, BIGOTRY and PARANOIA, taught by Wright, learned by Obama and to what degree and in what areas did Obama receive and integrate this philosophical filth into his own mind. Remember, Obama calls Wright his MENTOR for 20 years so it is without a DOUBT a significant amount of Wright PHILOSOPHICAL FILTH was accepted and incorporated in Obama's own thinking. THAT is why WRIGHT and OBAMA is relevant. |
| Latin1 | Posted 5/12/2008 2:31:45 AM | show profile Just to remind everyone. Like Obama says "Words do matter". Add it up, and what do you get everyone? *like the the parishoners said "Rev. Wright has left a lasting impression on them AND Barack Obama". There you go. |
| Latin1 | Posted 5/12/2008 2:42:46 AM | show profile --- now--- Now...if my priest had said what Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. said...I am pretty sure I would remember that. ...he is SHOUTING it to the roof tops...I am pretty sure I would've woke up' and heard what he was saying...if you say you didn't...YOU ARE A LAIR. Besides I never heard my priest say things like this. I have been to black churches and they don't say this either. They pretty much talk about the bible and Jesus...not this. |
| Latin1 | Posted 5/12/2008 3:29:06 AM | show profile connections between Obama and unrepentant Weathermen The Underground Weathermen, which included Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, blow up several state and federal agenices, including the Pentagon. They also bombed a New York police station hurting several police who were maning the 911 emergency phone lines. How many of you know unrepentant terrorists who blew up policemen and the Pentagon? It seems Barack Obama does. |
| Latin1 | Posted 5/12/2008 3:41:28 AM | show profile Barack backs cousin Odinga in Kenya, but ... Barack went to Africa to lend support to his cousin Raila Odinga, who was running as ruler of Kenya. Only problem is that Odinga is a Muslim radical who believes that strict Islamic Sharia law should be imposed on ALL the Kenyan people, but Muslims only make up a smaller segment of the people in Kenya. Well Odinga lost, even though Barack Obama flew to Kenya to back his 'cousin'. Odinga did not take the loss kindly, his miltia attacked Christian churches killing several Christians in Obama's home district in retaliation for his loss. Sort of an 'ethnic clensing'. Later the country, to quell the violence, gave Odinga a 'position' in the Kenyan government. The Kenyan government called Barack Obama some not so nice names for his 'meddling' into their politics. hmmm...bad judgement. |
| JackieRo | Posted 5/12/2008 11:12:26 AM | show profile Seattleme, are you black? The reason I ask is the church means something very different in the black community. Church is more like an extension of the family. It's not like the church I go to now where we go, worship, shake hands with the fellows next to us, then leave, never learning their name. When I was a kid in the South, the quintessential church ladies kept in your business and kept you on the straight and narrow. We listened to the pastor. I'm Catholic now, and the church is very different from my Baptist upbrining. There is less of a sense of community and more self reflection. |

Responding to a comment also requires that you possess comprehensive reading skills first. Which you don't seem to have. Because if you had any, you would have understood what follows after the first line you've quoted: " However, if you find that you simply cannot stay away from the CE board, you have many threads to choose from within it. Don't care about Obama or Clinton subjects? Don't open them. Want to find something different? Why not start by creating your own thread? " Get a clue before sticking your foot in your mouth. |
