| klow | Posted 5/10/2008 2:49:27 PM | show profile | email poster Most moms-to-be think of the big stuff, but what about the little things they may not have even considered? The small things: Things to do that you may not have thought of ? changing nipples out, expiration dates on baby food, formula, washing stuffed animals and toys, etc. Can you think of things to add? Did you ever get stuck forgetting something? Did you make a list of things to remember? I need to include anecdotal quotes from moms (and dads) for this article. I?d love any help. Please email me directly at keathlow@aol.com Thanks. Keath |
| FeaturesGal | Posted 5/11/2008 10:43:02 PM | show profile Changing nipples? That would probably hurt a bit. Over 2 years of breastfeeding and the nip didn't need to be changed (or heck, really wiped) once. |

| sophiesMOM | Posted 5/12/2008 2:44:45 PM | show profile i wish someone told me that newborns, in general, really don't like to sleep in their cribs. they're too big and babies get kind of freaked out. best to have a bassinet for the first few weeks or even longer. |
| Canadiana | Posted 5/12/2008 9:04:51 PM | show profile Yah, by the second one I was like, let's go with the flow: wanna feed? No problem. Wanna sleep with mama? No problem. Wanna cuddle? No problem. I would tell moms to trust their instincts, listen to their babies, and go with the flow. |
| rch23 | Posted 5/13/2008 12:38:52 PM | show profile | email poster Here is a little thing- Make sure you have a tea kettle and a giant collander. Swear to god they have both saved me a lot of time and energy. If you're sterilizing things (bottles, toys, etc...) you just boil some water, throw it all in the collander and sterilize away... Also- as someone who bottle-fed I found it SO helpful at the beginning to buy the formula packets that come 4 oz and pre-fill bottles with water and then use them for night feedings. You're so tired that not having to measure out scoops of formla or fill bottles is a lifesaver... |
